Good to Know about the Stena Adventurer

Practical Information

  • During the winter season, the Stena Adventurer usually remains in service, and the Holyhead–Dublin route is operated all year round.
If the weather turns particularly rough, delays may occur. As a cruise ferry, the Stena Adventurer is more robust than high-speed vessels, but stormy conditions can still affect sailing times.
  • The Stena Adventurer can accommodate around 1,500 passengers and 500 cars. Especially during busy travel periods (holidays and weekends), it’s wise to book early to secure your vehicle space.
  • Designed to carry both passengers and freight, the Stena Adventurer dedicates a significant portion of its space to vehicle decks, offering a total of 3,400 lane meters. You can clearly see this in the first image of the gallery above, where the passenger section takes up only a relatively small part of the ship.

Expeience with the Stena Adventurer

The ship is not the most modern in the Stena Line fleet but does offer everything for a crossing of just over 3 hours. We chose a spot in the Stena Plus Lounge with extra coffee and some small refreshments. You can also have a nice meal there (not included in the price). The Stena Plus is a nice extra but not a must. The other areas on the ship are also good and tidy. Do bring some entertainment. For a crossing of this length, there may not be enough to do for some.

Stena Plus

The Stena Plus Lounge is a private area available for an additional fee and can also be included with certain Premium fares on the Holyhead–Dublin route. It offers a quieter space at the bow of the ship with complimentary snacks and refreshments, newspapers, magazines, and often waiter service. Access is limited, and children under eight are not permitted on Irish Sea routes. Prices vary around £26/€30.

The hygge or Hwyl Lounge provides a calmer setting with reclined seating, soft lighting, and sea views. It is designed for passengers who prefer peace and relaxation, and has age restrictions to preserve its quiet atmosphere. Access typically costs around £13/€15.
