Camp for a night near the ferry

The campsites near the harbour are all quite affordable, and the scenery and beaches around Holyhead are really beautiful! So it’s definitely worth spending a night there to enjoy the surroundings. We’ve selected a few campsites for you near the ferry terminal:

Practical choice: Llanfair Bach Caravan and Camping Site

Just a 5-minute drive from the Holyhead terminal, this is the nearest camping spot. It’s small but very conveniently located. Shops are nearby, and right next to the campsite is the beach – ideal for coastal walks. The camp doesn’t have a formal website, but contact info is available via its Facebook page.

Natural retreat: Tŷ Mawr Mynydd Campsite

Waiting for the ferry can also be quite pleasant here! You’ll find green hills with sea views near Holyhead Mountain and the North Stack Lighthouse. This site is more secluded, but if you already have your gear, it’s a beautiful nature-based spot from which to explore on foot. Don’t forget to bring your stabilization blocks or leveling plates for uneven ground.

Larger option: Tyn Rhos Camp Site / Caravan Park

For a campsite with a few extra facilities, including a small shop and Bert’s Family Pub, this is a great choice. The campsite is suitable for tents, caravans, and motorhomes. It’s set in nice surroundings and just a short walk from a few small villages. Evening walks in the nearby countryside are a bonus.

Book early during the summer months, 
especially if you’re taking the morning ferry. The small campsites around Holyhead fill up quickly, especially in good weather!
