Stena Line
Dublin-Holyhead

Stena Line operates the route between Dublin and Holyhead with two comfortable cruise ferries

Stena Line has four departures spread throughout the day (except on Sundays, when there is no night ferry). All crossings are with stable cruise ferries that transfer passengers, vehicles and freight. It is also possible to travel as a foot passenger and with pets. Stena Line allows you to book a cabin, although it is not mandatory, as the trip is relatively short.

Tickets for Stena Line

Stena Line’s prices are dynamic, meaning the fare increases as the crossing becomes more fully booked. Tickets can be booked through:

  1. the Stena Line website,
  2. via a comparison website like Direct Ferries,
  3. or directly at the Stena Line terminal. However, please note that prices in the terminal may be higher and sailings may be fully booked, especially during the summer and holiday periods.

Cost indication

  • By car
Tickets for the ferry start at around €125 for a one-way trip with a car and one passenger.
  • Foot passengers
If you leave your car behind, for example, in the long-stay car park, you can travel as a foot passenger for about €40.

Practical Information

  • At Stena Line, you can bring pets with you. However, you must comply with the EU regulations when travelling to Ireland, and with UK regulations when travelling from Ireland to Wales.
  • On the Holyhead–Dublin route with Stena Line, there are no baggage charges. If you are travelling with a vehicle, there is no limit to the amount of luggage you can carry in your car, as long as it is safely stowed. Foot passengers can also bring an unlimited amount of luggage, but hand luggage taken on board must not exceed 60×50×40 cm. Larger bags must be checked in before boarding and will be securely stored during the crossing, to be collected at the terminal upon arrival. As you won’t have access to checked baggage during the voyage, it’s advised to keep items with you on board.

Stena Line terminal Holyhead Port

The terminal is located close to Holyhead town centre, approximately 5 minutes away. Bus and taxi services are available outside the terminal, and long-stay parking is also provided.

Wifi Stena Line

Wi-Fi on the crossing is convenient for work and entertainment on board. On Stena Line ferries, Wi-Fi is quite affordable. You can use the Wi-Fi for free for the first 20 minutes, and then pay £2 for the rest of the crossing, or £4 for high-speed internet for the remainder of the trip. Reportedly, the Wi-Fi works best on the Stena Estrid, which is a much newer ship than the Stena Adventurer.
